This is one of those rare comedy movies that gets better the longer you stick with it (for the first hour anyhow). The opening scene was so bad that I nearly quit there and then. I'm glad I didn't.
Don't get me wrong: the movie is bad. But it's bad in the right ways, which is to say that in the middle of all the nonsense there are some very funny moments. The Danny DeVito joke was the best comedy-movie-laugh I had this year. But the last half-hour or so is a waste of time.
The plot? The transition of a strip of land along Vermont's northern border from Canadian to US sovereignty, and the resulting confrontation between equally inept US and Canadian cops.
This made me want to go watch the original Super Troopers again. I had rated it highly, so I expected the original to be way funnier. As it turns out, the sequel was superior, at least for me.
