      1980 | USA | Laughs: N/A (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 6.2

I hope whoever classified this movie under "Comedy" has since been moved to another division of the film industry—perhaps sandwich-making. It's one of those films that are light-hearted, but certainly not one that makes you laugh out loud. Not very funny, but a few good moments, so not a complete waste of time. Clockwise DVDClockwise
      1986 | U.K. | Laughs: 6.1 (Watch Once) | imdb: 6.6
      wikipedia | who was involved?

An English headmaster's misadventures on his way to deliver a speech at the headmaster's conference. Many funny moments, but a little slow for the 21st century. Still, it's John Cleese and you want to watch because you don't want to be rude to him. (Last viewed: August 2009)

MASH DVDMASH
      1970 | USA | Laughs: 8.2 (Laugh and Smile) | imdb: 7.4
wikipedia | dmoz | who was involved?

In a league of its own, this work of art depicts life at a medical camp during the Korea war. What makes Mash so funny is the main characters' imperturbable aloofness through all situations—performing surgery on a dying man, being threatened with punishment by a commanding officer, chatting up female staff, or playing pranks. The soundtrack features fun Japanese songs from the period. (Last viewed: Oct 1992 July 2009)

The Mouse that Roared DVDThe Mouse that Roared
      1959 | U.K. | Laughs: N/A (Light-Hearted) | imdb: 7.0
      wikipedia | who was involved?

A tiny wine-producing country declares war on the United States and, by fluke, wins. A cute movie for fans of Peter Sellers, who plays four of the characters. The only funny bit is in the end credits, when the Columbia Pictures statue takes her place on the pedestal.

      1997 | USA | Laughs: 1.7 (Just Awful) | imdb: 7.3

A hitman travels back to his hometown for his ten-year high-school reunion. Great eighties music, no laughs, lots of bullets and yawns. (Last viewed: December 2008)

Guess Who posterGuess Who
      2005 | USA | Laughs: 4.5 (Watch Once) | imdb: 5.9
      wikipedia | who was involved?

A young man and his girlfriend plan to announce their engagements to her African-American parents, who are unaware of his pale skin condition.

Race issues are often treated in comedy, not always in the most subtle way. I was pleasantly surprised at the consistently light tone maintained throughout the movie, which entertained me. (Last viewed: January 1970)
